The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB has urged Igbo leaders to help bring Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra out of prison.
MASSOB reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s planned Imo visit on Wednesday, urged Igbo leaders to demand the release of Pro-Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu.
MASSOB said Igbo leaders should demand Kanu’s release during Buhari’s visit to Imo State on Thursday.
A statement by MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Edeson Samuel, said Kanu, who represents the aspirations of Igbo people, has been subjected to torture over his agitation.
MASSOB in a statement said, “The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, hereby advises the political, traditional, religious and opinion leaders of Igbo land to demand the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from President Muhamadu Buhari during his state visit to Imo and Ebonyi states.
“It is imperative to note that Kanu is being subjected to inhuman torture at the DSS detention cage because of Ndigbo.
“MASSOB advises Igbo political leaders to use the occasion of Buhari’s visit to revive the lost confidence and hope Ndigbo bestowed on them by telling Buhari that Ndigbo are not being treated as co-citizens.
“They must demand for the release of Kanu from detention.”
Recall that the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, had disclosed that President Buhari is expected in the state on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Kanu is held up by the Department of State Services, DSS, following his rearrest from Kenya.
The IPOB leader was arrested and repatriated over his agitation for the actualization of Biafra.
