A 13-year-old old girl, who was impregnated by her father, Friday Moses, has been delivered of a baby girl at the Benin Central Hospital.
She put to bed during the weekend.
Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Philip Ugbodaga, said the hospital would foot the medical bills of the teenager.
Ugbodaga also said the hospital was in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to take proper care of the teenage mother and her baby.
Mr. Moses, a commercial motorcyclist, started having carnal knowledge of his daughter at age seven after the death of her mother.
In October 2018, he was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour by an Edo State Family Court.
The Edo State government took the teenager into protective custody after the prison sentence of her father.
The teenager says she would like to continue with her education and become a medical doctor.
She told journalists that as at the time she was impregnated by her father, she was yet to write her First School Leaving Certificate examination, but that she would be happy if her education is supported by good-spirited individuals.
