A video has emerged of the moment some police officers opened fire on protesting students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, on Tuesday.
A student was killed instantly and one of the other injured students, Okonofua Joseph aka Joseph Icon, was later confirmed dead. The deceased was a 300- level student of the department of Biology Education and a strong lover of the Nigerian Police Force.
He also doubled as the Social Director of Faculty of Education Students Association. It was gathered he was shot by the police while walking on the streets.
The students were protesting against the poor electricity supply to their area when the convoy of the First Lady of the State was passing through the area.
One thing led to the other and the policemen in the convoy allegedly opened fire on the students, although the First Lady later came out to say she didn’t order the shooting.
