The kidnapped spokesperson of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mrs Bridget Esene, has been released by her abductors.
Mrs Esene was kidnapped by five armed men who trailed her to her church at Ikhueniro, a community in Benin City on Sunday, January 24.
Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the development said Mrs Esene was released at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26.
Nwabuzor declined to say if a ransom was paid or not for her release. However, a family source, claimed that ransom was paid to secure her release but didn’t disclose the amount.
According to The News, a source close to the Edo police command said Mrs. Esene narrated how she was abducted at gunpoint by the kidnappers and sold to another gang suspected to be herdsmen.
