Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan paid a courtesy visit to PanAfrican TV Station, TOS Television Network, in Abuja on Monday, 12th of April, 2021.
Goodluck Jonathan who visited the Television network which is barely one-year old at its Headquarters in the nation’s capital city, Abuja was welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Miss Osasu Igbinedion.
Dr. Jonathan was glad to meet with the management and staff of the organization and was elated with the content and programmes of the Digital First PanAfrican News Network. He acknowledged TOS is well equipped to achieve its mission which is to tell African stories in an informative, educative and entertaining manner thereby positioning the continent for growth and prosperity.
Speaking on women’s participation in politics, the Former President revealed that he worked to increase the number of women in political positions during his tenure, but noted that women are at a disadvantage during primary elections.
“When it got to appointment level, I made sure that I specifically created space for women, even down to some states,” he added.
Jonathan stated that his administration encouraged women who were in strategic places to mentor other women.
The former President harped that, “any nation that wants to grow must plan for young people because younger people as well as women have the capacity to change the society.”
Jonathan commended the CEO of TOS TV Network, Chief Miss Osasu Igbinedion, for setting up the TV Network which focuses on giving Africa a voice.
In her response, the CEO expressed delight and pointed that TOS TV Network is set out to empower Africa to tell her own stories.
