The Special Adviser at the Office of Civic Engagement, Lagos State Princess Aderemi Adebowale has heaped praise on the Executive Governor of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu following the presentation of cheques to 50 beneficiaries at the ‘Sanwoolu Listens Initiative’.
The ‘Sanwoolu Listens Initiative’ is a social welfare programme intended to provide financial assistance to vulnerable citizens in Lagos State irrespective of creed and political leaning.
The event which had the theme ‘’Taking Humanity To The Next Phase’’ had in attendance the Governor, Heads of Ministries, Beneficiaries, Journalists from all walks of life and a section of the public in attendance.
The initiative which took place for the third time started in August 2020 and so far, over 10, 000 citizens have benefitted from this scheme thereby lending credence to the benevolent nature of the Governor.
Princess Aderemi Adebowale who heads the Office of Civic Engagement took time out at the event to explain to all and sundry, the workings of the Office of Civic Engagement which has been tasked with the screening of beneficiaries for the initiative.
In the words of the Special Adviser, she said ‘’The Office of Civic Engagement had continued to screen and shortlisted walk-in applications and nominees from various platforms in the public domain with beneficiaries emerging according to the degree and nature of their various financial challenges without any bias. The process of selecting the beneficiaries for the financial support was open and transparent, a committee within the office was set-up to interview and screen applicants to facilitate selection’’.
Princess Adebowale also talked up the role Governor Sanwoolu played in making the funds available for the beneficiaries ‘’By and large, it is imperative to note that the continued execution of this programme would not have been possible but for the approval and release of funds by our magnanimous and compassionate Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’’.
