The Pastor of Faith Assemblies Ministries, Toronto, Rev. Duke Oliogu, was kidnapped in Benin City. He was kidnapped around 9 pm on January 16 at GRA in Benin City, Nigeria.
Rev. Duke Oliogu and his wife travelled to Nigeria for the celebration of life and thanksgiving service in respect of his departed mother-in-law, Madam Patricia Ekuase Elabor, a well-known businesswoman in Benin City, who passed on in Toronto last year and was buried in Benin City on July 1, 2021.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the burial ceremony and thanksgiving service in honour of the departed soul were postponed to January 15 and 16 respectively.
The burial ceremony took place at Crown Height Pavilion, Benin City while the thanksgiving service took place at Deeper Life Bible Church, New Benin, Benin City.
According to a family source, some hours after the thanksgiving service, Rev. Oliogu went to GRA to visit his in-law who also came from Canada for the ceremony and was kidnapped there. His whereabouts remain unknown and his family members have not heard from the kidnappers or received any official demand from them.
Rev. Oliogu work as the chaplain at Lakeridge hospital, Oshawa. He is a very quiet, loving, caring and approachable person. Also, he is a very humble servant of God. He is married with children.
His children and the members of Faith Assemblies Ministries are devastated and are appealing for help, prayers and government intervention in a bid to ensure his safe return to Canada.
