Two children (boy and girl) of a serving soldier were on Monday knocked off from a motorbike to death by a vehicle allegedly driven by suspected internet fraudsters (Yahoo Boys).
The accident, which occurred in Auchi, Edo State, also claimed the life of the motorbike rider, who was conveying the children home from school, alongside their uncle.
According to a post on Auchi Blogspot, which was accompanied by pictures of the accident, the soldier identified as Jerry is one of the military men serving in Nicoho Barracks, Auchi.
The post read : “A visit to the residence of Anna & Jerry at the Nicoho Barracks evoked so much painful emotions as pain was palpable on the family owing to the tragic demise of their kids in yet a tragic event.
“On Monday the 7th of February is a day to never forget in the life of Anna, Jerry and everyone who is affiliated to this young family.
The impact was terrible to the point that the Okada Rider and both kids gave up the ghosts on the spot. The young man broke a femur and the vehicle that crushed them crumbled and flipped into a drain with various damages but none on the boys in it.
“Jungle Justice was instantaneously dangling on their heads but thanks to men of the Nigerian Army, they were saved and quickly handed over to the Police while swirling tensions were being calmed by the soldiers via traffic control and other means of ensuring sanity during such circumstance.
“In all these, I did not know it was Anna’s kids that were the victims of this gruesome scene, I was unaware that the man whose femur had broken was Anna’s younger brother.
“Although the Okada Rider looked like a Northerner whose Hausa speaking colleagues had rented space everywhere, it was yet to be known to the Soldiers who prevented the driver and his cohort from meeting their Waterloo that the kids who were crushed were their colleague’s children who at the time was on official duty away from Auchi.
“As soon as I posted the update, I got a call from a senior colleague that the Children were Anna’s _Anna!? I exclaimed half confused, half surprised with a sprinkle of palpable pain on my being.
Truth be told, I’ve ironed the ‘asoebi’ of Anna and Jerry with which I attended their Nuptial Union at Pastorial Center some 4years back.
I couldn’t help but scream ‘Inna lillahi wa Inna illayi raji uun!’
“To cut the long story short, I together with uncle Lucky Marcus visited Anna and one could see how emotionally drained a woman who had bathed her precious kids in the morning had become having received the most painful news a mother can ever listen to about her children who she had expected to come home to her hugs, kisses and other motherly idiosyncrasies that bond families and make memories.
“I saw so much but in all, her kids were gone _never to return simply because some reckless young men decided to drive recklessly like all alleged Yahoo Boys do in Auchi Sacred Kingdom.”
