Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has condemned Abuja-based cleric, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, over the statement he preached concerning President Buhari and his government.
In his last Friday’s sermon, Sheik Khalid had berated the Buhari-led government for its poor handling of the insecurity across the country. Khalid who was the Chief Imam at the Apo Central Mosque in Abuja has since been fired from office on grounds that he is unremorseful for his comments which were found ”inciteful”.
Reacting to Sheik Khalid’s sermon, Sheik Gumi while speaking to newsmen, described it as “sentiments overriding intellect”. According to Gumi, the Abuja Imam was wrong for trying to discourage Nigerians from participating in the election to vote out bad leaders.
He said the Khalid’s action is worse the act of kidnapping.
“It’s a case of sentiments overriding intellect. Calling masses not to vote out incompetent government by massive voting is worse than the few kidnappings and a misplaced judgment” Gumi said
