30-Year Old Mother Shoots Dead Her Four Children And Her Neighbor Before Killing Herself

0
A mentally ill mother has shot and killed her four children, including an infant, and her neighbor before turning the gun on herself at an apartment complex, Police in Louisiana said.
Monroe Police Chief Reggie Brown confirmed the six deaths that occurred Thursday night and identified 30-year-old Brittany Tucker as the shooter in the quintuple murder-suicide.
Brown told news outlets on Friday that Tucker suffered from mental health issues and appeared to be going through a crisis. She had been seen waving a gun at the Parkwood Apartments in the days before the shootings.

Brittany Tucker, 30 [left], shot dead her 20-year-old neighbor Anteshia Logwood, [right], then her own children and herself in Monroe, Louisiana, police said

Anteshia Logwood, 20, was shot and killed at the apartment complex shortly before 8 pm on Thursday.
Brown said Logwood had dismissed an irrational remark that Tucker had made, the Monroe News Star reported.
Tucker asked Logwood, ‘What are you laughing at?’ before fatally shooting the young woman in the chest, reported KNOE.
Brown said Tucker then returned to her apartment and shot her children.

Police identified the slain children as Tremayne Tucker, 12 (pictured far left); Trechelle Tucker, eight and Treasure Tucker, five (pictured together, right)

Police identified the four children as Tremayne Tucker, 12; Trechelle Tucker, eight; Treasure Tucker, five; and Glory Tucker, five months old.

The youngest of the victims killed by Brittany Tucker was her five-month-old baby, Glory Tucker

Police said the mother turned the gun on herself before officers responded to the scene.
After speaking with witnesses who were present over the past couple of days, Ms. Tucker was showing irrational behavior with the gun in hand, and no one felt the need to reach out to law enforcement or anyone of that nature to let us know she was showing irrational behavior and possessing a firearm,’ Brown told the News Star. ‘We could have responded and got her some help because that was a cry for help.
Investigators claimed that Tucker bought the gun legally just days before the shootings.
According to the description of a GoFundMe campaign launched by Logwood’s older brother, his sister would have turned 21 years old on Wednesday.
‘Instead of planning for her birthday, we have to plan for a funeral,’ wrote Charles Logwood.
On her Facebook page, which has been dormant since late May, Tucker referred to herself as an ‘apostle’ and frequently shared religious

Leaving the UK ‘all makes sense’ now, I was ‘destined’ to help fight systemic racism in US – Meghan Markle

0
Meghan Markle has reportedly stated that her decision to leave the United Kingdom and move to the US ‘all makes sense to her now’, as she believes she was ‘destined’ to help fight systemic racism in the United States.

According to Markle, who shocked Buckingham palace when she and her husband, Prince Harry announced early this year they will be quitting duties as Royals and relocating to the US, her ‘gnawing urgency to uproot from England’ was fate so she could be at the ‘forefront’ of the black lives matter movement.

According to an insider who spoke to Daily Mail UK:

‘She feels that her gnawing urgency to uproot from England was fate so she could be at the forefront of the movement”

‘Meghan said her work as a leader is more important than ever right now and that she’s been speaking with Oprah and other community leaders on how she can be part of the solution.

‘Meghan feels like her mission goes far beyond acting. She said she wants to use her voice for change and hasn’t ruled out a career in politics.’

Meghan’s reported comments come as the US has been rocked by protests across the country in the wake of the deaths of black American George Floyd and other African-Americans at the hands of police resulting in Trump signing new police reform rules.

Meghan spoke out about Floyd’s death earlier this month, declaring ‘black lives matter’

She said: ‘George Floyd’s life mattered and Breonna Taylor’s life mattered and Philando Castile’s life mattered and Tamir Rice’s life mattered’.

Edo state deputy governor Philip Shaibu joins Obaseki in PDP, picks membership card

0

Edo state deputy governor, Philip Shaibu has also joined the PDP and picked up the party’s membership card. This comes after his boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki joined the PDP on Friday, June 19.

Speaking to journalists shortly after obtaining his PDP membership card at the party secretariat in Benin City, Shaibu expressed disappointment over the ”undemocratic actions and tendencies” of the suspended National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole.

In his words

“I have a mixed feeling with this action. First, one struggled to form a party and after forming that party, those that benefitted from the party took over the party and became tyrants. It is not always easy that after one helped to form and nurture a party, one individual would say he is an Adolf Hitler in the system and becomes undemocratic. That was what happened in the APC.”

Speaking further, he said

“Some of us believe in the people. We believe that people must lead at all times. Because of that, we cannot afford to abandon this state for people like that. That is why we decided to abandon them in APC and join the PDP today.”

President Jair Bolsonaro has been heavily criticized for his response to the crisis.

Court acquits man accused of defiling neighbours’ 9-year-old daughter

0

A man accused of defiling his neighbour’s 9-year-old daughter has been discharged and acquitted by a Lagos High Court.

Niyi Oyelami, who was accused 5 years ago of defiling his neighbours’ 9-year-old daughter, was discharged and acquitted by Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere.

The court found Oyelami not guilty of the offence of defilement after five years of trial.

While delivering judgement in a virtual court proceeding, Justice Ipaye acquitted the defendant on the grounds that the prosecution was unable to prove its case beyond every reasonable doubt.

The Judge said that the testimony of the two prosecution witnesses failed to establish that the accused person actually committed the offence.

She said, “Niyi Oyelami, you are hereby discharged and acquitted of the offence of defilement dated 27 of November 2015.”

During the trial, the prosecution, Ms Bisi Bello had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 2, 2015, in Agbule Egba area of Lagos. She said that the defendant had unlawful sexual knowledge of a nine-year-old daughter of his neighbour. She said that the offence contravened Section 137 of Lagos State, 2011.

The prosecution had called three witnesses who testified before the court, Vanguard reports.

The first prosecution witness Sergeant Glory Eyo, attached to Meiran Police Station at area M Command, in Abule Egba area of Lagos, told the court that on May 2, 2015, a complainant reported a case of defilement at about 9: 30pm.

She said that the complainant (the neighbour of the defendant) told her that her daughter whom she came with to the station, was defiled by the defendant when she went to buy a snack for her 9-year-old daughter and after which she saw the defendant wearing her daughter her pant back when he finished having sex with her on the bench.

Eyo, also told the court that the complainant (the neighbour of the defendant) said she asked him what was happening and he said nothing but that she immediately took her daughter to the room and pulled her pant and saw bloodstains on her and when she asked her she said it was the defendant.

The IPO, further stated that after taking her statement she directed her to a hospital at Orile Agege.

Justice Ipaye held that the defence counsel in his final written address, asked the court to determine whether penetration of the prosecutrix took place, failure to bring her to court to testify and that the investigative Police officer IPO, did not tender any evidence, nor investigate the case but that she just testified based on what she was told.

She also said that the defence counsel stated that the second prosecution witness said that any penetrating object could break the hymen, the penis, rigorous physical activity but that in this case, the witness who is a doctor could not ascertain how the hymen was broken as there was no laceration, rupture or penetrating sex.

The defence counsel, Femi Adenitire, had urged the court to discharge and acquit the defendant, contending that the prosecution could not tender the birth certificate of the girl to establish whether she was actually a minor.

He also contended that the prosecution failed to produce the victim to give evidence “which is vital to the prosecution’s case”.

The publication adds that Adenitire also contended that the prosecution did not carry out any proper investigation but only did a mere recording of statements. He, therefore, urged the court that when the totality of the issue is determined it ought to be in favour of the defendant.

The prosecution in his written address told the court that it has established that the defendant was responsible for the defilement of the prosecutrix. It said that it has discharged the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ipaye said that the failure of the prosecution to provide eyewitnesses even the victim to give evidence as to whether it was the defendant who actually ruptured the hymen was fatal to its case.

She said that the second prosecution witness, a doctor gave evidence that a lot of time had passed before the victim was brought for medical examination.

The judge said that the doctor ascertained that the victim’s hymen was actually ruptured but could not ascertain whether it was the defendant who actually ruptured the hymen.

“Failure of the prosecution to call vital witnesses to give evidence in a defilement case is fatal to the prosecution’s case.

“The prosecutrix (victim) and the complainant failed to testify in this case.

“Also the manner in which the medical examination was conducted in this case can not be relied upon.

“We have a DNA laboratory in Lagos State and crime scene investigation of such offence must be forensically investigated.

“I must conclude that the prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond every reasonable doubt, I hereby discharge and acquit you, Niyi Oyelami,” Ipaye said.

Sir Ian Holm: British actor who played Bilbo Baggins in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films dies aged 88

0

English stage and film actor, Sir Ian Holm, who played Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings films, has died at the age of 88.

The award-winning actor passed away on Friday morning, June 19 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A statement from his agent Alex Irwin said: “It is with great sadness we can confirm that the actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88. He died peacefully in hospital, with his family and carer. His illness was Parkinson’s related.

“An established star of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Harold Pinter’s favourite actor, (he won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor as Lenny in The Homecoming), Sir Ian was globally recognised for his extraordinarily impressive and varied career which included highlights such as Chariots of Fire, The Fifth Element, Alien, The Sweet Hereafter, Time Bandits, The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Madness of King George.

“His portrayal of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings trilogies ensured the magic of his craft could be shared by all generations.

“He was a genius of stage and screen, winning multiple awards and loved by directors, audiences and his colleagues alike. His sparkling wit always accompanied a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

“Charming, kind and ferociously talented, we will miss him hugely.”

The actor, who was also an acclaimed theatre star, appeared in films such as Alien and The Madness Of King George.

Reacting to his death, Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) artistic director Gregory Doran said: “It is with great sadness that we heard today of the death of Sir Ian Holm. Ian was quite simply one of the RSC greats.

“Long before he found fame in Chariots Of Fire, Alien, Greystoke and as Bilbo Baggins in The Lord Of The Rings, Ian joined the Stratford Company in 1958.”

He said: “Ian perfectly expressed the cross fertilisation between classics and new writing that Peter Hall forged in the early days of the RSC.

“He married the technique of a classical Shakespeare actor and the intense naturalism and economy of style of a modern tradition…

“Ian was entirely original. Entirely a one-off. He had a simmering cool, a compressed volcanic sense of ferocity, of danger, a pressure cooker actor, a rare and magnificent talent. There’s a great spirit gone.”

The National Theatre tweeted: We’re very sad to hear that Ian Holm has passed away. He was an extraordinary actor and we have wonderful memories of his performance at the National Theatre as King Lear (1997).

BAFTA also issued a statement, saying: We are very sorry to hear of the death of Ian Holm. Nominated for 6 BAFTAs in his wide-ranging and successful career across TV and film, he is pictured here winning the Supporting Actor award for his role in Chariots Of Fire in 1981.

Sir Ian Holm, widely considered as one of the greatest British actors, played more than 100 roles in films, television and on stage. He won a Laurence Olivier award, a Tony and a Bafta, and was a member of the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company.

He was married four times, most recently to artist Sophie de Stempel, and had five children.

Primary school teacher arrested after N550m belonging to her 24-year-old son was found in her account

A primary school teacher, Mrs. Roseline Uche Egbuha has been arrested following an investigation which exposed her alleged involvement in money laundering.

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) said investigation showed that the money found in the bank account of the primary school teacher identified as Mrs. Roseline Uche Egbuha, are proceeds of money laundering from Malaysia.

Upon being interrogated, Egbuha said the money found in her account belonged to her 24-year-old son, Chidozie Fabian Ejeaka whose whereabouts could not be established.

She was arrested alongside three bank staff and her lawyer, Fredinard Isa due to their connivance in lifting the restriction placed on her account and the subsequent transfer of N550m (principal sum and interest) into the GTB account of FBI Legal, a company owned by the lawyer.

The agency said in its statement;

ICPC arrests Primary School Teacher, GTB Officials, Lawyer over N550m Money Laundering ICPC has arrested a primary school teacher, Mrs. Roseline Uche Egbuha, three staff of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and a lawyer for allegedly laundering N550 million.

Mrs. Egbuha, a teacher with Ozala Primary School, Abagana, Anambra State, was earlier arrested in 2019 by ICPC and granted bail, after an investigation into her financial transactions consequent upon the receipt of a petition, had shown her alleged involvement in money laundering.

Also in ICPC custody are a Compliance officer of GTB, Beckley Ojo, an Operations Manager, Chisomaga Daly-Okoro, a staff of the legal dept. of the bank,Sarah Ugamah & a lawyer to GTB Nsikak Udoh. They were alleged to have connived with the sch. teacher to perpetrate the fraud.

ICPC, in a series of investigation, found that the school teacher had N539.5 million in her Guaranty Trust Bank account alleged to have been proceeds of money laundering from Malaysia.

She had told investigators during interrogation that the money found in her account belonged to her 24-year-old son, Chidozie Fabian Ejeaka, whose whereabouts could not be established.

A Post No Debit (PND) was placed on the account to allow the Commission to carry out further investigation, while a case of forfeiture of the suspected proceeds of crime was instituted against her in a court of law.

Her arrest with the staff of GTB and the lawyer was due to their connivance in lifting the restriction placed on her account and the subsequent transfer of N550m (principal sum and interest) into the GTB account of FBI Legal, a company owned by her lawyer, Ferdinand Isa.

ICPC found out that the money was transferred on 4th June, 2020, the same day the court order was obtained. The lawyer claimed that the order vacating the restriction on the acct. was based on an out-of-court settlement with GTB which empowered his client to access her money.

The Commission also found out that the N550 million was promptly split and moved into multiple bank accounts owned by Bureau de Change operators and private individuals.

N340 million, in two instalments of N200 million and N140 million respectively, was allegedly moved into the Polaris bank account of a Bureau de Change operator.

N100m was transferred into the GTB account of Edokaf Multi-global while N18m was transferred to the private account of the lawyer, Isa. The balance of the money was moved into other accounts. Investigation is ongoing and appropriate actions will be taken upon conclusion.

The whole country will be Minneapolis if Democrats win the election – Donald Trump says

US President, Donald Trump has said the country will have a dim future if he loses the 2020 presidential election and Joe Biden is elected.

According to Trump, the US will be like Minneapolis if he loses and will go in ‘a recession like never seen.’

The whole country will be Minneapolis if Democrats win the election - Donald Trump says

Minneapolis was the site of the death of George Floyd, a black man, who was killed by a white police officer on Memorial Day, setting off weeks of looting and rioting in the city and ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests around the country.

The whole country will be Minneapolis if Democrats win the election - Donald Trump says

Trump speaking in a Father’s Day-themed interview with his son, Donald Trump Jr. that aired on Friday, he said;

‘The whole country will be Minneapolis,’
‘I feel like if the Democrats get in, we are literally going to end up in a recession/depression the likes of which you’ve never seen,’ the president said.

Trump was referring to the chaotic nights in the city following the death of George Floyd.

Since then Trump has called himself the ‘LAW & ORDER’ president, crediting the National Guard for defusing the situation in Minneapolis.

‘When the National Guard went in, it was so beautiful,’ Trump continued.

Trump also blasted cities under Democratic leadership.

‘It’s a very sad thing,’ he said. ‘But I happen to think it’s explaining to people that are getting ready to vote on November 3, that there’s only one answer, and you can’t go back to the bedlam,’ Trump said.

‘The country, I don’t think would ever recover from it,’ Trump warned.

He also spoke about the current situation in Seattle, where demonstrators have taken over several parts of the city and turned them into a police-free zone.

‘You look at Seattle, when you go to Minnesota, and you take a look at what’s taken place there, it’s incredible. They tried to take over a great city,’ he said.

‘The cities that are having trouble are Democratic-run cities, meaning Democrats … The Democrat-run cities are the ones that are having the trouble,’ he said, making sure to say, Democrat, not Democratic, which is a Republican jab. ‘It’s a very simple thing.’

Trump then suggested Biden was declining, saying he’s ‘certainly not in the condition’ to lead the country.

‘He’s China’s dream,’ Trump added.

Oshiomhole’s masquerade will dance naked in the market – Saraki

0

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has reacted to the defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki to the Peoples Democratic Party and the suspension of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.

Saraki while welcoming Obaseki to the PDP, said he ignored Oshiomhole’s verbal attack because he knew “a day would come when his masquerade will dance naked in the market.”

The former Governor of Kwara state averred that the man who was garrulously proclaiming the end of the political career of some other people is now about to meet his waterloo.

He said in a statement released on Friday June 19;

“I also thank Obaseki’s colleagues, the PDP Governors, for their role and for ensuring that while bringing him into the party, they carried along the local chapter and refrain from just unilaterally taking decisions without the input of the leaders of the party in Edo State.

“The process our Governors adopted in working with the local chapter to bring in the Governor is a better approach than the system in many of the other parties where the National Working Committee (NWC) would simply just give him a membership card.

“That is why my appeal will, at this point, go to all of us, the leaders and stakeholders, who gave assurances that agreement will be honoured, we need to ensure that the NWC of our party plays its own supervisory role by making sure that those agreements entered into by the Governor and the local chapter should be kept, particularly since I am very sure they are all lawful and in the interest of peace and development of the state. That is the only way to keep our integrity intact.

“At this point, it will be odd if I fail to comment on the situation that led to the change of party by Governor Obaseki. While I have kept my cool and ignored all the verbal attacks directed at me by the suspended chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole, I have always known that a day like this would come when his masquerade will dance naked in the market.

“The truth is always constant and no matter how far falsehood travels, the truth will catch up with it one day. Oshiomhole can fool people for a long time but he cannot fool the people all the time. What is happening to him now is a moment of truth. This same man who was garrulously proclaiming the end of the political career of some other people is now about to meet his Waterloo.

“He has continued to use his mouth to divide his party and I believe there is a lesson for all politicians to learn from the fate of the suspended APC chairman. No autocrat can successfully pretend to be a Democrat. The true character of a man will come out one day.”

Prof.Omorogbe denied the terrible claims during a protest organized by members of the Edo Women Development Initiatives on Friday, June 19, 2020.
The AG noted that the news of Uwa being impregnated by her pastor brought more pains to her grieving family.
She said, “We were all terribly shocked to see what happened to Uwa. It was terrible; it was a brutal experience.
“We were further shocked by some of the different things we saw all over the place, particularly on social media, and that is why it is important we come here.
“For example, we saw a terrible lie being peddled on social media, not regular press, that Uwa was impregnated by her pastor. That has been refuted, though it caused serious anguish to the family members. It’s a terrible story.
“Though one cannot talk at this point, from the autopsy done on Uwa, it was clearly established that not only was she not pregnant, she was a virgin, so, how boyfriend and pregnancy came in, only God knows.”
Omorogbe also went on to assure residents that the Edo State government is committed to ensuring total eradication of rape in the state.
“All we are trying to do is to make sure there is no more rape in Edo State. Not only do I believe that rape can be totally eradicated in the state, but the government of Mr. Obaseki is also committed to ensuring total eradication of rape in this state.,” the AG said.
Earlier this month, one of the suspects linked to the rape and murder of Uwa was arrested by police officers attached to the Edo state police command
