Reno Omokri has said that the 1917 apparition in Fatima, Portugal, actually happened. Reno, who was born to Catholic parents and attended Catholic Church as a child, said his Catholic upbringing “sparked a lifelong desire to investigate the Fatima sighting of Mary” and he did so in 2019.

When followers asked what his findings uncovered, Reno wrote: “No matter what you think about Catholics, the 1917 visitation by a spirit being purporting to be Mary actually happened.” He added: “There were just too many witnesses. Now, whether that being was actually Mary or not, is what I don’t know.
Speaking on spirits, he said: “What I know is that scripture warns us of the possibility of other spirit beings passing themselves off as others.” He continued: “But on the question of whether or not a spirit being appeared, I am 101% convinced that the story is true.”

Catholics believe that Mary appeared to three little shephard children at Fatima in May 1917 and told them that she would reappear to them on 13 October that year and perform a miracle “so that all may believe.”

On Oct. 13, 1917, “an estimated 70,000 people” visited the site anticipating the Virgin’s visit and they are said to have experienced what is being called the Miracle of the Sun.

Some present claimed they saw the sun dance around the heavens; others said the sun zoomed toward Earth in a zigzag motion that caused them to fear that it might collide with Earth. Some people reported seeing brilliant colors spin out of the sun. The whole event took about 10 minutes.
A number of Christians and Christian scholars have debated the apparition. But Reno Omokri says he’s “101% convinced the story is true.”
