Pastor Adeboye’s son, Leke faces 3-man panel for calling RCCG pastors goat, allegedly refuses to apologise

0
Leke Adeboye who is one of the sons of the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, was on Wednesday, April 6, made to face a three-man panel over his recent comment describing some pastors of the church as Goats.
On Tuesday, April 5, Leke shared a post on his Instagram page where he criticised Pastors who deliver their own sermons on the first Sunday of every month after his father must have delivered one that had been broadcasted across all parishes in the country.
Reacting to this development, Leke in his post wrote;
“Why would you go and preach another sermon after Daddy GO (General Overseer) had just finished speaking and preaching? You are not a son, you are a goat sir. Next Thanksgiving service, just do altar call, then Thanksgiving”
Pastor Adeboye
He received serious backlash for referring to the clergymen as goats.
Sahara Reporters reports that Leke was made to stand before a three-man panel on Wednesday which included his father-in-law, and was asked never to repeat such again after he had vehemently and arrogantly said he would not apologize for the insulting comments made against senior pastors of the church.
“Leke Adeboye was made to face a panel today (Wednesday) for insulting pastors and calling them goats. The three-man panel, unfortunately, did not punish him or ask him to apologise. One of the members of the panel is his father-in-law.
He arrogantly told off the panel that he cannot apologise. And what did they do? They only told him to not repeat it again” sources within the church were quoted as saying
Leke has since deleted the post from his IG page and has not also tendered a public apology to the pastors.

0
Governor, Nyesom Wike and other presidential hopefuls under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP met behind closed doors in Port Harcourt on Wednesday ahead of the 2023 elections.
The former Vice President and presidential aspirant under the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, was, however, absent from the meeting.
A media aide to the Rivers state governor said those at the closed-door meeting included the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Others present were the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the former Managing Director of FSB International Bank, Dr Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The host, Governor Wike, while speaking to journalists after the meeting, said their interest was to ensure the consolidation of unity in the party.
Wike also expressed their interest in making Nigerians happy by developing a formidable strategy that would enable the PDP coast to victory in the 2023 presidential election.
He said, “Our interest is the unity of the party. Our interest is to make Nigerians happy by making sure that by 2023, PDP takes over the reins of government because Nigerians are patiently waiting.
Our interest is the unity of the party. Our interest is to make Nigerians happy by making sure that by 2023, PDP takes over the reins of government because Nigerians are patiently waiting.
“And I can assure you that we are going to work as a team to make Nigerians happy,”
Wike stated.
On his part, the leader of the delegation, Senator Bukola Saraki said their discussion centred on identifying the best available ways to ensure that all concerned party members embrace unity, as there is strength in unity as proverbially said.
Saraki stated, “We are here to have a discussion and we just finished talking about the best way for us to reunite our party, bring unity among all those who are aspiring to lead this country under PDP.
We are here to have a discussion and we just finished talking about the best way for us to reunite our party, bring unity among all those who are aspiring to lead this country under PDP.
“We all realise the importance of this and PDP is the only option ready to redirect this country in the right direction and bring progress and provide a better future for our people.
“We have been to some of the other states and today we are here with the Governor of Rivers State – a key stakeholder of this party to discuss frankly. He has given us his views and made some suggestions and we will continue to work with that as we move away from here.
”But the key thing is unity; the key thing is to put the country first and put the party first,” Saraki affirmed.

Nigeria Needs Igbo President In 2023, APC Must Zone To South-East – Deji Adeyanju

0
A human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has insisted that the next president of Nigeria must come from the Igbo tribe.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to zone the 2023 presidency to the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, whether from the South-East or South-South of the country.
According to Sahara Reporters, the activist explained that it was ideal a presidential candidate emerges from that part of the country to lay to rest the permanent feeling of disenchantment amongst the Igbos.
In an open letter to the president, obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, Adeyanju added that having a Presidential candidate from the South-East will help to disabuse the mind of the citizens on the anti-Igbo perception people have of Buhari.
Adeyanju also said an Igbo presidency will help to repair Nigeria’s badly damaged economy owing to the business acumen of the Igbos adding that it will also help in national healing.
His letter reads, “As a preliminary point, please accept my commendation over your leadership role in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
“Considering the almost Siamese relationship between political parties and governance in the country, it was a huge relief to note that the two leading political parties successfully conducted their respective conventions and elected national officers without crisis.
“As you may be aware, the Independent National Electoral Commission recently released the timetable for electioneering activities towards the 2023 general elections.
“By the said timetable, all political parties would have picked their presidential candidate not later than 2nd June 2022. Sequel to the above, it is common knowledge that the APC has zoned its presidential candidacy to Southern Nigeria.
“However, I am using this medium to urge you to leverage on your influence in the party towards zoning the office of the president to a candidate from the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, whether from the South-East or South-South of the country.
“I am sure that your highly successful template of electing a consensus APC party chairman can be deployed towards electing a consensus APC presidential candidate of Igbo extraction.
“There are numerous reasons why a presidential candidate from that part of the country is most ideal at this time of the nation’s development. Since General Aguiyi Ironsi’s unfortunate demise in 1966, no person of South Eastern extraction has governed Nigeria.
“Sadly, this undeniable and systematic exclusion has created a largely subconscious and increasingly permanent feeling of disenchantment amongst the Igbos.
“In a country where tribe and ethnicity continue to play important role in our daily affairs, it is inexcusable that the Igbos have been denied a shot at the highest office in the land for so long.
“Additionally, picking a presidential candidate from the South East will go a long way to disabuse the mind of the citizens on the anti-Igbo perception currently being associated with your name. It can therefore be said that President Buhari did what any of his forebears failed to do.
“Furthermore, the Igbos are known for their business acumen. An Igbo presidential candidate will be able to repair our badly damaged economy and continue the path of restoration that you have started.
“In addition to the foregoing, our country needs national healing. We cannot heal our fault lines if we continue to deny one region the right to produce a president. Since 1999, the Yorubas have occupied the office of the president and vice president for 15 years.
“They have also been Speaker of the House of Representatives for 8 years. It will, therefore, amount to a great injustice for a Yoruba candidate to succeed you in office and stay for another eight years.
“Indeed, if a Yoruba person were to succeed you in office, that would mean they would have been President for a period even more than the entire northern Nigeria since our return to democratic government.
“I understand that a lot of pressure is being mounted on you, at this time, to pick political convenience over national unity. However, I am optimistic that you will use this opportunity to repair your legacy and retire as a respected elder statesman. Nigeria needs an Igbo president in 2023.”

2023: I Guarantee Victory If Given Ticket, Wike Tells PDP

0
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has said he has the capacity to take power from the All Progressives Congress come 2023 and that if the Peoples Democratic Party must win, he should be given the ticket to contest.
Wike made the statement while speaking on Tuesday in Gombe where visited stakeholders of the PDP as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the party’s presidential primary election.
He asked the stakeholders, that, as delegates at the party’s convention, they should not waste their votes on candidates who could not win the 2023 general election.
Wike said, “If you want PDP to win election in 2023, I have made myself available. Give me the ticket, let me go and take the power for you. We are talking about who can take this power from APC. That person is me.”
“We need to salvage this country. Let us not pretend about it. Insecurity does not know religion. Insecurity does not know ethnicity. Poverty does not know ethnicity. Poverty does not know religion.
“The people who come to kill us, do they look at who is a Christian? Do they look at who is a Moslem? Do they know who is Hausa-Fulani? Do they know who is Igbo? We are dying.
“So, it is not for sentiment. It is not for people to come and tell you, look, it must come from here, no, no. It is for those who have the capacity. If given the opportunity, I will replicate what I’ve done in Rivers State as President of Nigeria.”
The governor also questioned the APC-led administration its claim of disbursing over N300 billion into agriculture, asking where the food produced was.
“They said they have given over N300 billion for agriculture. I have no problem with that. Even if they have spent N1 trillion, where is the food?” Wike asked.
“I don’t want people going to buy rice and doing pyramid. I want to see to it that agriculture is working,” he said.

President Putin’s daughters added to growing list of Russians sanctioned by the EU

0

EU leaders are reportedly planning to place Vladimir Putin’s daughters on its latest sanction hit-list in its latest crackdown on Moscow in the wake of alleged war crimes in Ukraine.

Katerina Tikhonova, 35, and Mariya Vorontsova, 36, are on the EU’s latest draft list of targets that includes oligarchs, politicians and those said to be within Putin’s inner circle.

Though, not much is known about their personal lives but Tikhonova, a scientist and former acrobat, and Vorontosva, an endocrinologist, are expected to be subject to asset freezes and travel bans across the continent from Wednesday.

It is unclear if the pair have holdings outside of Russia, any potential life of luxury they could have led in Europe is now likely to be a distant dream.

It comes as the G7, EU and United States are said to have agreed on a ban on ‘all new investment’ in Russia as part of its latest economic retaliation against Putin.

The new measures will also widen the net of sanctions on Russian banks and state owned businesses and aim to cripple government officials and their family members.

The latest round of sanctions are understood to have been trigged by allegations of ‘genocide’, atrocities and war crimes against Ukrainian civilians discovered after Russian troops fell back from their position in Bucha, near Kyiv.

Further Russian imports worth an estimated £4.6bn each year, understood to include cement, liquor, vodka and caviar, will also be banned under the new raft of measures.

Other measures proposed by the EU’s executive arm include sanctions on more individuals and four key Russian banks, including the second-largest, VTB.

‘These four banks, which we now totally cut off from the markets, represent 23% of market share in the Russian banking sector,’ EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen said.

Kanye West ‘believes Forbes is underestimating his $7B net worth’ after magazine values him at $2B on their Billionaires List

0

Kanye West reportedly believes Forbes is undervaluing his $7 billion net worth after making the magazine’s Billionaires List valued at $2B.

The magazine has listed West’s real time net worth at $2 billion on their star-studded list, but insiders have told The Blast West is actually worth $7 billion.

According to ET Canada, West is one of several celebrities to have made the Billionaires List. He follows Oprah Winfrey, who is valued at $2.6 billion, while his ex-wife Kim Kardashian trails him at $1.8 billion.

West has several deals in place, but the magazine’s criteria for determining someone’s wealth does not take into account the ‘enterprise value of long-term deals that are in place,’ according to The Blast.

Net worth is determined in part on ‘revenue from last year only.’

The Blast claims West’s team was told about the article in advance and are not pleased by the way his value has been inputted in the story.

On top of his wildly successful music career, West has a multi-year deal with Adidas with his wildly successful Yeezy range, in addition to a major one with Gap which sees him produce and design apparel for the company, according to The Blast.

The Yeezy Gap clothing collaboration garnered $1 billion in sales in its first year and now a new range, Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, will be released later this year.

Kanye also owns a small stake in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand Skims, according to The Blast.

According to The Blast, West thinks the publication is trying to ‘control and diminish him even at the cost of their own integrity.’

A man has crashed his car into the gates of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest before it burst into flames, killing him.
The man, identified locally as father’s rights activist Bogdan Dr?ghici, posted a message of support for Ukraine two days before his death.

He wrote: ‘I’m Ukrainian too! Let’s all be Ukrainians!’

According to the reports, a man sprinted over toward the flaming wreckage but the fire was too intense for him to enter the vehicle and save the driver.

His vehicle rammed into the gate at about 6am, police said, but did not enter the embassy compound.

Romanian media reported Dr?ghici ‘doused himself in petrol before setting his body on fire’ and accelerating into the Embassy wall.

In a furious Facebook post two days ago, Dr?ghici wrote: ‘I’m Ukrainian too! Let’s all be Ukrainians until this horrible war which threatens all humanity is over!

The places where I was looking for souvenirs was sprayed by rockets fired by Hitler’s clone.’

Dr?ghici was leader of the father’s rights group TATA (Anti-Discrimination Alliance of All Dads).

A city police statement said: ‘This morning, around 06.00, a car left the road and hit the fence of a diplomatic mission.

‘The driver died and the intervention of fellow firefighters was needed to to extinguish the fire manifested in the car.’

He was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor, but was in the midst of an appeal.

Dr?ghici was under ‘judicial control’ and banned from leaving the country till May 26, 2022, but was able to walk free pending the outcome of his appeal.

The Russian embassy said none of its employees were injured, and expressed condolences to the family of the driver.

They said: ‘We must state with regret that whatever the motives of the driver, there is no doubt that he committed this act under the influence of an explosion of anti-Russian hysteria in connection with a staged provocation in the city of Bucha.’

More than $350bn of Russia’s $604bn foreign currency frozen – UK

0

More than 60% of Russian president, Vladimir Putin’s war chest has been frozen by sanctions, according to the UK.
According to the UK’s foreign secretary, Liz Truss more than $350bn (£266bn) of Russia’s $604bn foreign currency has been frozen ever since Russia invades Ukraine but more needs to be done.

More than $350bn of Russia

The foreign secretary said “crippling” sanctions are pushing the Russian economy back “into the Soviet era”.

Truss, who spoke after talks with her Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau, urged G7 countries to go further in their sanctions ahead of G7 and Nato meetings this week.

Truss said she is calling for ban on Russian ships from their ports, cracking down on Russian banks, going after industries “filling Putin’s war chest” such as the gold trade, and agreeing a timetable to eliminate imports of Russian oil and gas.

Ms Truss said the only way to end the war is for Russian President Mr Putin to lose in Ukraine and will stress the urgency of stepping up sanctions, as well as giving weapons to Ukraine to defend itself.

“Although Russian troops have been defeated in their initial assault on Kyiv, there has been no change in their intent and ambition,” she said.

“We are seeing Putin’s forces set their sights on the east and south of Ukraine, with the same reckless disregard for civilian lives and their nationhood.

“So far our sanctions have had a crippling impact on those who feed and fund Putin’s war machine.”
Her call for more to be done comes amid condemnation after images of bodies in the streets of Bucha, near Kyiv, emerged after Russian troops withdrew.

PHOTOS | 23-year-old Nigerian law student dies after eating cannabis sweet in London

0
A 23-year-old British born Nigerian law student, Damilola Grace Olakanmi, has died after consuming a suspected cannabis sweet in east London.
According to Evening Standard, the University of Hertfordshire business law undergraduate bought the “gummies” via a messaging app on her phone and they were delivered to her home.

Ms Olakanmi and a 21-year-old friend immediately fell ill at the mid-terraced house in South Park Drive, IIford at 11.30pm on Tuesday, March 29 after eating the sweets.

Ms Olakanmi was taken by air ambulance to Queen’s Hospital, Romford in a critical condition.

Her mother Wumi, 51, a churchgoer, kept a vigil by her bedside until she lost her fight for life on Saturday, April 2.

Doctors later discharged Ms Olakanmi’s friend, a US student visiting the UK, from hospital.

Justice campaigner and relative, Richard Taylor, 75, consoled the student’s distraught mother on Sunday.

“Wumi has lost her only child – she has nothing now,” he told The Standard. “They had to hold her up because she broke down every time a friend came to the house to give support.

“It’s a tragic warning to all young people about how they live their lives. They should resist drugs. Damilola was a promising young woman who should be looking forward to her future and having children of her own. She was studying law.”

A relative, named only as Dunni, added the family were demanding answers.

“Damilola was a sweet, quiet girl – a bit of an introvert. Her mother looked up to her. She was very kind and loved looking after children and wanted to please everyone. The family will never come to terms with this. We need to know what happened. Her mother is not young any more,” Dunni said.

“We don’t want Damilola’s memory to be just like that. You want her to be remembered as the girl who asked everyone, ‘Are you okay and do you want anything?’” she added.

A suspect, Leon Brown, 37, of South Norwood, was arrested in connection with the incident on Friday.

He was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply Class B synthetic cannabinoid, being concerned in the supply of a synthetic cannabinoid, and possession with intent to supply a psychoactive substance.

Meanwhile, officers have issued a warning over the sweets and said a number have been recovered and are being tested.

The Met Police said the case may be linked to another incident in March where a woman was taken to hospital after eating a cannabis sweet in Tower Hamlets.

She has since been discharged but an inquiry is under way to establish whether they came from the same batch involved in Ms Olakanmi’s death.

“I must warn the public against taking any illegal substances, including those packaged in the form of cannabis sweets,” Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell, of the Met’s East Area Basic Command Unit, said.

“Please do not buy or consume these products. They are illegal and, because of the child-friendly packaging, they can pose a risk of accidental consumption. The particular batch of sweets were contained in packaging featuring Trrlli Peachie O’s branding. It has not been confirmed at this stage where the sweets were manufactured,”

“Drug dealers harm communities and risk the safety of individuals. We will take positive action to target those engaged in this activity as well as those found in possession of these substances. Anyone with information about people selling illegal products such as these is asked to speak with local officers, call police on 101 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers.”

A special post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course, the Met said.
